Rifugio Elena Tironi a Rosello

The Elena Tironi Hutte at Rosello di Sopra, in the municipality of Esine (BS), is located within the Valgrigna Valgrigna Vast Area, one of the most preserved mountain areas in the Lombardy region and managed by Ersaf. The peculiarity of the area is the roaring of the deer, mid-September – end of October, and the presence of numerous specimens of forcello.

The refuge can be reached by various paths. The most popular path, accessible to families with small children and mountain-bike enthusiasts, is from Plan di Montecampione 1800. A difference in altitude of about 200 m and a duration of just over 1 hour.

The structure is surrounded by a splendid forest of larici, which in autumn gives a variety of golden colours.

It is strategically located

– on the “Sentiero 3V” at the junction for the entrance to the high variant or the low variant;

– on the “Via dei Silter” a ring-route of about 80 km crossing the wide area of Valgrigna,

-a few hours from the Maniva Pass and a few hours from the Crocedomini Pass.
The hutte, on the ground floor, offers a heated dining room with a wood-burning fireplace, seating a total of 40 people, and a room equipped for use as a conference room, workshop, etc… for the use of guests. On the second floor, 5 bedrooms of 4 or 6 seats, for a total of 22 beds.

The kitchen offers daily typical and “alternative” dishes, also suitable for vegetarians. It benefits from the proximity of excellent alpine huts, which produce the Silter DOP cheese of Valle Camonica, fresh cow’s ricotta, goat’s ricotta, fiorit, malghe cheeses and freshly milked milk (on request it is possible to drink it at breakfast!!). In addition, given the proximity of malga rosellino, which brings sheep to pasture, you can often find sheep dishes on the menu, such as goulash and tagliatelle with white sheep ragout. I am careful about purchasing, trying to collaborate with small producers in the Camonica Valley. My philosophy in the kitchen is “Regionality – Seasonality – Variety – Near is better!”. At the hut you will also find a small mountain vegetable garden that occasionally offers some goodies, and beehives cared for by Apicoltura Camuna Esine that regularly provide alpine honey.

The wood also offers edible foodstuffs that are skilfully processed

All you have to do is come and discover this marvellous corner, which does not offer conquests of peaks, but paths…

Perhaps enhanced by the hospitality of this refuge!
